Christian Garin defeats Henri Laaksonen to reach the semifinals of the 2019 US Men's Clay Court Championship in Houston, Texas.

Tennis is one of the most popular sports these days. We can say without any hesitation that all the major tournaments, especially Grand Slams, can compete in terms of popularity with any other major sporting event.

Players from all over the world gather to compete, which increases the fan base of the sport. Now, because of all the publicity, people also love to bet on tennis.

In this article, we will present a short guide on how to bet on tennis. You ought to stay with us for a few minutes and get to know the basics which would make your profits go up. Besides all this, we are bringing you the list of available bonuses for US tennis punters, which is a superb convenience, able of making your wagering much easier.

First and foremost, there are several types of bets when talking about this particular sport and one by one; we will list them and explain.

1) Outright betting

In this case, you stake the bet before the start of a particular tournament or the phase of the same. It usually refers to the winner of the same, or one particular player, though it doesn’t have to be always like that. For example, Novak Djokovic to win the US Open, or Dominic Thiem to reach the semis of Rogers Cup, or even who will capture the No.1 spot at the end of the season – bets like these are outrights. The main characteristic is that these bets are not for individual contests.

2) Match betting

Now, this is completely the opposite. Here you pick the winner of one match. It is the easiest way of betting in this sport, where nothing else than the final outcome matters.

3) Spread (Handicap) betting

Nothing too difficult in this one. One player needs to cover the spread set before the match to deliver the winning pick. Simple as that. The spread or the handicap as some refer to it, could be displayed in games, or sometimes sets. Therefore, if one player has -2.5 games spread, it means that he needs to win the match with a combined difference of three games.

4) Over/Under betting

Same as with all other sports. The bookies provide you with the limit of games or sets, and you need to pick whether the match ends with a fewer or higher number of the displayed items. If the O/U limit for the total number of games is set at 18.5 and you pick over, the result 6-3, 6-4 would mean that you won. The same goes if there are sets involved; over 2.5 suggests that the match needs to see three sets; otherwise, you lost your bet.

5) Live-betting

For some punters, there isn’t a better way of making money than on live, or in-play betting as some call it. All the markets mentioned above are available during the matches, and you can choose in according to the current situation and your assessment on what to bet – the winner, over/under, spread etc. But along that you have other features to exercise, like who wins the next game, what will be the exact result of one game, whether will there be a break-point etc.

Tips and Tricks When Betting on Tennis There are several very important factors one punter needs to take into consideration when deciding to bet on tennis.

The first and most important is the head-to-head record. Like in the majority of sports, some rivals are simply better than others when meet, and that is due to numerous reasons. Because of that, the first thing you need to check are H2H meetings.

The surface of the court is the next one. Some players might have a similar H2H record, but their wins were earned on different turfs. For example, Rafael Nadal has more against Novak Djokovic on clay, while on the other side, the Serb is much better on hard surfaces.

Also, you should never underestimate the current form of one player. That is one of the key rules in tennis. No matter how it looks impossible for some player to defeat his rival, if he is posting good results lately, go for the upset. Tennis is an individual sport, and as such, the recent trends are playing a major role in the process of betting.

We’ve come to an end of this article. In the previous few paragraphs, we tried to give you guidelines on how to bet on tennis, and now the rest is up to you. We wish you nothing but luck.
