Nitto ATP Finals—Turin, Italy
Sinner Defeats Alcaraz for 2025 ATP Finals Title
No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner captured his second career ATP Finals title in Turin, Italy on Sunday, defeating world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(4), 7-5.
Needing two hours and 15 minutes to prevail, Sinner hit 25 winners, eight aces, won 84 percent of his first serve points and broke his Spanish opponent on two occasions during the final ATP match of the season.
Picking up his sixth victory against Alcaraz in 16 meetings, Sinner will now set his sights on recapturing the world No. 1 ranking from Alcaraz in 2026.
Alcaraz, who ends 2025 with eight titles, won two Grand Slam titles and three Masters 1000 crowns. The 22-year-old has 24 career titles and continues to be on course to end his career as one of the greats in the game.
Sinner, who owns four career Majors, will look to have a big 2026 season. The 24-year-old missed three months of the 2025 due to a doping ban. He will have ample opportunity to gain points total from the end of the Australian Open until the Madrid Masters.
Sinner defeated Alex de Minaur in the semifinals in straight sets, and Alcaraz knocked out No. 8 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in two sets in the other semifinals.
De Minaur will finish the year ranked No. 7 in the world and Auger-Aliassime will finish at a new career high of No. 5.
The world of tennis will now shift its attention to the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, Italy.
Italy is the defending champion of the event but will be without Sinner and perhaps Lorenzo Musetti.
The Spanish squad will be led by Alcaraz. Alcaraz will be looking to finish his season in style with the prestigious team title.
