Wednesday’s action at the Miami Open featured Australian Open Champion Jannik Sinner reaching the semifinals, defeating Tomas MacHac 6-4, 6-2.
Needing one hour and 32 minutes to advance, Sinner struck three aces, won 77 percent of his serve points and broke serve on four occasions.
Sinner will await the winner of No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev and No. 22 seed Nicolas Jarry.
On the women’s side, former Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins raced into the semifinals, dismissing No. 23 seed Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-2.
Garcia will next face No. 5 Jessica Pegula or No. 14 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova. Alexandrova dispatched world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the fourth round.
Thursday’s order of play will highlight top seed Carlos Alcaraz taking on No. 11 Grigor Dimitrov and No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev facing Fabian Marozsan.
No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina will also be in action against No. 27 Victoria Azarenka.
