Rolex Testimonees Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz Win French Open Titles
Rolex Reigns Supreme at French Open
After a memorable fortnight in Paris, France, Rolex Ambassadors Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz won their fourth and first French Open titles, respectively.
Swiatek breezed through the draw in impressive fashion, with her lone scare coming in the second round against four-time former Major winner Naomi Osaka.
The 23-year-old Pole now owns five Grand Slam titles and will look to add to her tally at the Wimbledon Championships next month.
Swiatek was presented her winning trophy by Hall or Famer Martina Navratilova and Rolex ambassador Chris Evert. Evert had mentioned that Swiatek will in fact break her record of winning seven titles.
Swiatek had this to say about capturing her fourth title in Paris.
“I feel really proud to have won my fourth title in Paris. Chris [Evert] is a legend and has had amazing achievements on the clay, so I’m super grateful to hear her say those words. There have been so many great players in the Rolex family who have changed the history of the sport and I’m sure her record will stay for a while. Last year, she told me to go for it, so I’m just going to listen to her advice and keep working hard.”
Alcaraz Wins Third Major; First in Paris
Athletic Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz continued to captivate the world of sport with his unique brand of tennis.
Notching his third Major on Sunday, Alcaraz backed up a five set victory over newly crowned world No. 1 Jannik in the semifinals, before ousting No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev in five sets.
The Spaniard, who is an Australian Open victory away from owning all four Major titles, had this to say after his impressive victory.
“I’m really grateful to have the team I have and the people I have around me. I know everyone in my team is giving their heart just to make me improve as a player and as a person, to grow up. It’s been a great journey from the first match until today. The Rolex Daytona I am wearing right now is also the watch I wore when I lifted the Wimbledon trophy last year. It has been with me for some very important moments and holds many memories from my tennis career.”
