US Open: Rolex Testimonee Coco Gauff Crowned Champion of New York with Thrilling Maiden Grand Slam Title at 2023 US Open

Coco Gauff (USA) holds the trophy at the presentation on court after her victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the Final of the Women's Singles in the Arthur Ashe Stadium

Geneva, 12 January 2024 – For more than 40 years, Rolex has nurtured a special relationship with tennis, a global sport with a history constantly enriched by new challenges, new stories and new champions. Rolex’s association with tennis began when it first partnered The Championships, Wimbledon as Official Timekeeper in 1978 – a time when tennis entered a golden era with unprecedented enthusiasm and famous rivalries. Since then, the Swiss watchmaker has extended its support to the most prestigious tournaments across the men’s and women’s tours – including all four Grand Slam® tournaments – as well as to the legends who have shaped the game, such as Björn Borg, Chris Evert and Roger Federer.

Rolex’s 2024 tennis calendar begins with the Australian Open from Sunday 14–Sunday 28 January. For the first time, the tournament will be played out over 15 days and will see former and aspiring champions arrive at Melbourne Park fresh from the off-season, ready to start their campaigns. From the hard courts of Australia, Rolex accompanies the sport to the ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami and across the European clay-court season, which culminates in its headline event, Roland-Garros, from Monday 26 May–Sunday 9 June. Rolex Testimonee Iga ?wi?tek will return to Paris as the defending women’s singles champion, striving to lift the Suzanne-Lenglen trophy for a remarkable third successive year and her fourth time overall.

In keeping with tradition, just three weeks later on Monday 1 July, Rolex Testimonee and the reigning men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz will start play on Wimbledon’s Centre Court. Since its creation in 1877, Wimbledon has stood as a beacon of tennis excellence and remains faithful to the original surface of the game, grass. From here, the sport returns to the North American hard courts and the electric atmosphere of the US Open from Monday 26 August–Sunday 8 September. Home favourite and Rolex Testimonee Coco Gauff displayed extraordinary composure to secure her maiden Grand Slam® title at Flushing Meadows in 2023 in front of 23,700 spectators. This year, the American sensation will join the leading men’s and women’s players in striving for success at the pinnacle of tennis. From ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events, to the Laver Cup and the Davis Cup Finals, as well as the season-ending Nitto ATP Finals and WTA Finals, Rolex supports these captivating showcases of human endeavour, skill and technical precision on court.
