Endorsed by the likes of Viktoria Azarenka, Feliciano Lopez and Lucie Safarova, the all-new Wilson Ultra 100 tennis racket provides the perfect blend of power and control for hard-hitting baseline players and those that like to attack on a regular basis.
Weighing in at 10.6 ounces (unstrung), featured in a 16×19 string pattern and allowing for 1oo sq. inches of hitting space, the Wilson Ultra 100 remains one of the most user friendly rackets in the Wilson family. Rated with a 69 stiffness index, the Wilson Ultra 100 will never be the preferred racket to use as a serve and volley player (unless a good amount of lead-tape is added) but this particular frame is a great choice for power-baseliners that are looking for spin and variety on their ground-strokes.
Another welcome addition to the Wilson Ultra 100 is the cushion foam handle, which helps to prevent shock to a player’s hand during uncentered or late hits. The head-light nature of this frame did allow for great angles to be created from the back of the court, and the spin management on kick and slice serves was well received on both the deuce and ad sides.
More than any other positive feature of this racket was the ability for it to appeal to a wide array of different levels. Beginner to intermediate players will enjoy the generous sweet spot and weight of the frame, while the advanced to competitive level user will benefit from the margin and depth the racket produces. We’d certainly suggest the addition of lead tape for advanced to open level players, but otherwise the Wilson Ultra 100 is a safe bet for any player looking for a noticeable difference in the depth and spin of their ground-strokes and serves.
Compatible with the Sony Smart Sensor, the Wilson Ultra 100 is priced at $199 US and is definitely worth a try this Spring/Summer.
