Reviewing Milos Raonic’s latest New Balance MC 996v3 D Tennis Shoe

Dedicated to improving his craft with each passing year, Canadian Milos Raonic continues to become a player to watch out for on any surface. While his serve will always remain his greatest asset, Raonic has definitely made strides in enhancing his movement compared with earlier on in his career. Knowing that swift and aggressive movements are key to becoming World No. 1, Raonic has opted for an all-new look with his signature New Balance MC 996v3 D tennis shoe for 2017.

First off, the MC 996v3 D does run pretty narrow and sizing up may be recommended for some players. There is no break-in required with this shoe but like all modern shoes with a “knit” upper, there is a possibility that some stiffness around the forefoot and toe area may occur when first tried on. However, the latest MC 996v3 D is perhaps the best shoe that the company has made for Raonic to date.

Here’s why: The low-to-ground feel has always been a welcome feature for most players. You really do feel connected to the court with these shoes and players will immediately sense great stability and support around the baseline and up to the net. Cushioning around the ankles was a definite bonus with this model, while the Lightweight EVA midsole added comfort under the foot bed.

Weighing in at 15.2 ounces, the MC 996v3 D is not the lightest shoe on the market but when taking into account the addition of the knit upper, this sneaker doesn’t feel bulky at all.

Other highlights of the MC 996v3 D include ProBank technology in the midsole for added stability on various on court movements and an NDurance rubber outsole for lasting durability. The full herringbone tread pattern allows for play on a variety of surfaces and finally the six-month outsole guarantee is always a welcome incentive to the advanced or high performance junior.
