Swiatek Wins US Open Title Over Jabeur

Women’s tennis has always been highly competitive and a gold mine for sports wagering. In 2022, Iga Swiatek dominated the scene and was number one on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) list. Serena Williams retired not too long ago and was the queen of women’s singles almost throughout her career.

Currently, there are many talented women in tennis you should consider wagering on in 2023. This article will address the career trajectory of five renowned female players and predict their performance for the year. Below are five female players you should look out for in 2023. You can learn more about these players in our expert guide to tennis betting.

Martina Trevisan

The first player on the list is Martina Trevisan, a professional tennis player from Italy. She started her professional tennis career in 2009 but only made it to her first-ever grand slam tournament in 2020. Her Grand Slam debut in the Australian Open was impressive, even if she eventually lost to Sofia Kenin. Since then, Trevisan has had three more Grand Slams, playing in singles and doubles.

At the time of writing, Trevisan was number one in Italy and is poised to set new records this year. She is currently participating in the Miami Open. Trevisan is thriving but has yet to secure the Grand Slam title. However, her energetic and excellent playing style since the beginning of the season indicates that 2023 may be her year.

Zheng Qinwen

Born in 2002, Zheng Qinwen is a young Chinese player with an incredible track record. Qinwen has participated in major junior tournaments since 2018 but made her WTA debut in 2021. Her performance in Tennis Future Hamburg was one for the record books, with a defeat against Linda Fruhvirtová. This marked the beginning of a prosperous professional WTA career.

Qinwen is the number one female tennis player in China and has the potential for global industry domination. She has a WTA Challenger title and is ready to set personal records at the 2023 WTA Miami Open. Her head-to-head matches have been generating a lot of attention among wagerers recently because of her excellent display of skills.

Jelena Ostapenko

Currently, the star in Latvian professional tennis for female players, Jelena Ostapenko, is someone you should look out for this year. In 2018, Ostapenko was number 5 on the WTA rankings. She already has five singles and six doubles career titles under her belt. Before her professional WTF debut, Ostapenko participated in the Youth Olympic Games in 2014.

Ostapenko started 2023 with a bang by reaching the quarterfinals in the Australian Open. She defeated Coco Gauff and became the first Latvian in the tournament’s history to get to this level. Currently, Ostapenko is participating in the Miami Open. She already has one singles Grand Slam title to her name and may have what it takes to get another one this year.

Belinda Bencic

Bencic is a Swiss professional tennis player who has been in the game since 2011. However, she started her junior career before that and was the world’s no 1 in 2010 in the junior leagues. Over the years, Bencic has secured eight single career titles and two doubles career titles. She is currently competing in the Miami Open and may be on her way to winning the Grand Slam. This makes hers a fan-favourite among wagerers in tennis.

Simona Halep

In 2022, Simona Halep, the renowned Romanian tennis player, got into many controversies after she failed a doping test during the US Open. Before this unfortunate event, the 31-year-old player was one of the best in the world. Halep has 24 singles career titles, and one doubles career title. Her prize money is currently the third on the list of all-time highs at $40,203,437.

Halep started her professional career in 2006 but was already popular in the local leagues long before that. In 2017, Halep ranked no 1 in the WTA singles worldwide. She held this title for 64 weeks but has fallen to the 13th position at the time of writing. Doping regulations prevent her from competing in 2023, but Halep isn’t completely out of the game yet. She will return when the charges are dropped or after her provisional suspension ends.

If you are an enthusiast of women’s professional tennis wagering, you should watch the news as global tournaments occur. Also, when making predictions, learn about individual player history, playing style, past injuries, and how they fare in singles and doubles. This information will help you make actionable decisions.
