Welcome back to the TennisConnected Podcast for 2018, brought to you by TopNotch Tennis Tours.
In this week’s show, @ParsaSamii and Nima Naderi return to review the 2018 Mutua Madrid Open from Spain and preview the Internazionali BNL d’Italia from Roma.
While Rafa Nadal showed that he was human in Madrid, how much weight can we really put on his recent loss to Dominic Thiem. We also discuss the lack of cohesion during the clay-court season, Petra Kvitova chances at the French Open, and finally we compare Denis Shapovalov with NBA star Russell Westbrook.
As always, you can alternatively listen and subscribe to the #1 tennis PodCast via iTunes and never miss another episode. It is very easy and completely free. Alternative download methods can also be found below.
It’s highly debatable whether, when Djokovic was dominating the sport, that Federer was in his prime. It is easy to forget that Federer is not from the same generation as Djokovic and Nadal. In my opinion, Djokovic was supposed to beat Federer, when he was at top, because Federer is 6 years older. I guess we could give credit to Federer for keeping up with Djokovic (if I’m not mistaken, one year Federer was the only player to beat Djokovic three times) but I think we could marvel at Djokovic’s ability to beat and surpass Nadal in his prime, a player who is actually in his generation and who was the dominant player at the time.
Hi Amy Bee,
Very well said. Always tough to compare players that are not the same age etc. Let’s see how the grass-court season unfolds when everyone is back playing. Cheers.
