Pegula, Paolini and Machac Reach 2024 US Open Fourth Round
Saturday’s Labour Day weekend featured top American star Jessica Pegula advancing to the fourth round of the US Open, defeating Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-3, 6-3.
Winning the title in Toronto and reaching the finals in Cincinnati, Pegula showed why she is one of the most inform players on the WTA circuit this Summer.
Slamming three aces and winning 89 percent of her first serve points, Pegula advanced to the round of 16 in one hour and 10 minutes.
The No. 6 seed will next face either No. 18 seed Diana Shnaider or Italian Sara Errani.
Other winners on the day included French Open and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini advancing over No. 30 seed Yulia Putintseva, defeating the No. 32 seed 6-3, 6-4.
Paolini, who has some of the best footwork on Tour, will next face talented Czech Karolina Muchova.
Muchova followed up her victory against Naomi Osaka by defeating Russian Anastasia Potapova 6-4, 6-2.
Other matches that are still to come on Saturday will include top seed Iga Swiatek taking on No. 31 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and No. 15 seed Anna Kalinskaya taking on No. 22 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Jessika Ponchet from France will also take on Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark and No. 16 seed Liudmila Samsonova will face American Ashlyn Krueger.

Machac Reaches Fourth Round
Belgium David Goffin failed to turn back the clock on Saturday in New York City, losing to Czech star Tomas Machac 6-3, 6-1, 6-2.
Goffin, who reached the quarterfinals in four previous majors, had made the fourth round of the US Open on four occasions.
The 33 year-old, who is currently ranked No. 78 in the world, defeated Adrian Mannarino in the second round.
Machac will next face No. 25 seed Jack Draper or Botic van De Zandschulp.
Van De Zandschulp dismissed Carlos Alcaraz in the second round.
Other matches that are still to come on Saturday will include top seed Jannik Sinner taking on Christopher O’Connell, No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev against No. 31 seed Flavio Cobolli, No. 14 seed Tommy Paul vs. Gabriel Diallo, No. 30 seed Matteo Arnaldi facing Jordan Thompson and Nuno Borges vs. Jakub Mensik.
