Unseeded Russian Daniil Medvedev captured his second title of the year at the Winston-Salem Open on Saturday, defeating American Steve Johnson, 6-4, 6-4.
Using his potent serve to deliver eight aces, Medvedev won 88 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on two occasions. Improving to 4-1 against Johnson in lifetime meetings, Medvedev also notched his 26th singles victory of the season.
Johnson, who was attempting to win his third title of 2018, fell to 26-18 on the year. The American had previously won titles in Houston, Texas and Newport, R.I. earlier in 2018.
