Khachanov Reaches Quarterfinals of 2025 Barcelona Open
Thursday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Thursday’s action at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, Spain saw Karen Khachanov reach the final eight, defeating local star Jaume Munar 7-5, 6-4.
In a match that lasted two hours and nine minutes, Khachanov used his big serve and forehand to offset his lower ranked opponent.
Improving to 2-0 in lifetime meetings over Munar, Khachanov hit one ace, won 73 percent of his first serve points, broke serve on four occasions and added 24 winners to his victory.
The Russian will next face either good friend and No. 4 seed Andrey Rublev or Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Other matches on the day will see top seed Carlos Alcaraz take on Laslo Djere from Serbia, and No. 5 seed Alex de Minaur face Jacob Fearnley from Great Britain.

Thursday’s schedule in Munich, Germany featured former top 10 player David Goffin advance to the quarterfinals, defeating Argentine Marino Navone 0-6, 7-5, 6-1.
After overcoming the loss of an unfavourable first set, Goffin hit 18 winners, won 64 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on five occasions.
The 34-year-old will next No. 5 seed Francisco Cerundolo, who dispatched Alexander Shevchenko from Uzbekistan 6-3, 6-2.
Other matches on the day will be highlighted by Zizou Bergs taking on Diego Dedura-Palomero, and No. 4 seed Ugo Humbert going up against Fabian Marozsan from Hungry.

Thursday’s order of play in Stuttgart, Germany saw Ekarterina Alexandrova upset No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva, defeating her countrywoman 6-3, 6-2.
Alexandrova, who continues to have a great year on Tour, reached her fourth quarterfinal or better in 2025. She will next face either No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula or Magdalena Frech from Poland.
Other matches on the day will see No. 4 seed Coco Gauff, No. 5 seed Jasmine Paolini and No. 7 seed Emma Navarro on court.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka received a walkover when her opponent Anastasia Potapova withdrew with an injury.
No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek breezed into the second round on Wednesday with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jana Fett.

Dutch player Suzan Lamens reached the quarterfinals in Rouen, France on Thursday, dismissing No. 2 seed Linda Noskova. 6-4, 6-1.
Following up her victory against Bianca Andresscu on Wednesday, Lamens hit five aces, won 82 percent of her first serve points and broke her opponent on five occasions.
Lamens will next face Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah from France.
Other matches on the day will see top seed Elina Svitolina take on Anhelina Kalinina, and No. 3 seed Olga Danilovic and Varvara Gracheva also in action.
