Next Gen ATP Finals—Milan, Italy
Italian upstart Jannik Sinner entertained his home-country fans on Saturday in Milan, Italy, defeating top 20 player Alex de Minaur 4-2, 4-1, 4-2 to capture the season-ending Next Gen ATP Finals.
In a match that featured a dominate performance by the 18-year-old, Sinner struck two aces, won 74 percent of his first serve points and saved all of the nine break points against his delivery. Breaking de Minaur on three occasions, Sinner captured the biggest title of his career in one hour and four minutes.
Winning $512,000 for his efforts, Sinner has enjoyed a remarkable year that has seen him increase his ranking from No. 553 at the beginning of the year to his current position of No. 95.
De Minaur, who has had a great season in his own right, finishes 2019 ranked No. 18 in the world along with three titles on his resume.
