Humbert Defends 2025 Marseille Title Over Medjedovic
Frenchman Ugo Humbert defended his title at the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, France on Sunday, defeating Hamad Medjedovic 7-6(4), 6-4.
Needing one hour and 41 minutes to prevail, Humbert hit 13 aces, won 82 percent of his first serve points, and broke his Serbian opponent on two occasions.
Humbert, who now owns seven ATP Tour titles, will improve his ranking to No. 14 in the world on Monday.
The 26-year-old has had a career high of No. 13 in the world, which he earned in April of 2024.
Medjedovic, who was appearing in his first-ever Tour final, defeated top seed Daniil Medvedev and No. 3 seed Karen Khachanov en-route to the finals.
The 21-year-old will move up to No. 72 in the world on Monday. A new career high.
Delray Beach and Buenos Aires Finals Preview
Other action on the ATP Tour on Sunday will feature No. 5 seed Francisco Cerundolo taking on Brazilian upstart Joao Fonesca in the Buenos Aires final, and No. 7 seed Miomir Kecmanovic facing No. 8 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Delray Beach final.
Fonesca, who will be contesting his first-ever Tour final, is still only 18-years-old. The Rio de Janeiro native has been touted as a future top 5 player by many tennis fans and analysts.
Cerundolo, who will be the favourite to win in Argentina, will be aiming for his fourth career title.
Over in Florida, Kecmanovic will be going for title No. 2 in his second career Delray Beach final, and Davidovich Fokina will be hoping to carry the form that saw him defeat top seed Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals.
The Spaniard has never won a Tour title. The 25-year-old reached the finals of the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters in 2022.
