Gear Preview: The Nike Metcon 2 Training Shoe

by: Nima Naderi

For those tennis players serious about their off-court training, the Nike Metcon 2 Training shoe is a must try.

Bridging the gap between performance and style, the Metcon 2 provides unparalleled stability and traction for the toughest of gym workouts. Taking durability to the next level, the true-to-size fitting Metcon 2 features Flywire cables that allow for a supportive fit, enough space in the toe-box for easy movement, breathability that prevents overheating during strenuous exercise and great heel support for added explosiveness.

Feeling secure in a training shoe is the name of the game, and the Metcon 2 scored very high in this regard. From plyometric training to weight-lifting and treadmill exercises, the Metcon 2 held up perfectly across a variety of different stationary to high intensity drills.

Highlighted by a firm and extra durable mid-sole shank, the Metcon 2 was a dream to use during burpy and kettle bell combination exercises. Taking the Metcon 2 to the courts, the trainer held up great during cone drills and foot-work specific exercises. The reflective laces were another great feature to this shoe if you’re considering some night training, although a more specific running shoe may be more suitable for long distance running.

All-in-all, for a shoe that is as durable as the Metcon 2, Nike has done a fantastic job of keeping the weight of this training down, in order to insure explosiveness, agility and comfort for the athlete.

Available in a multitude of colors for both men and women, the Metcon 2 will quickly become your favorite gym oriented trainer.
