Gear Preview: Reviewing the 2016 Babolat JET Tennis Shoe

Remaining at the cornerstone of tennis equipment evolution, historic French-based company Babolat is set to launch their latest master-piece named the JET.

Built with the intention of a players’ speed in mind, this light-weight model offers true-to-fit sizing and ultra-hip cosmetics to match. Packed with a Matryx® upper, which was designed in France for the on court needs of every tennis player, the specific upper uses Kevlar® and Polyamide fibers to provide unmatched support to all areas of the foot. An interesting aspect of this technology sees the one-piece upper providing players with the best wear protection for regions of the shoe that work the hardest.

If you’ve always been a fan of the Michelin Outsole that Babolat shoes are known for then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that JET also contains this outsole in a custom made “S” pattern. The result is great directional change and traction on all parts of the court.

Of course, as with any “speed driven” shoe, the JET will not be your bread and butter everyday training shoe because of its relative lack of durability. But when looking at a Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 or and Asics Gel Resolution 3, the durability of the JET is certainly comparable. That said, if you’re looking for a tennis shoe that will give you everything you’re looking for during match play, then the JET is more than worth a try.

Available in grey/red and light grey/yellow throughout 2016, the JET will come in an All Court Men’s version, an All Court Women’s version and finally a clay court model for men.

Priced at $$189.99 CAN and $135 US, the Babolat JET is now available for purchase at the following retailers:

Canada

USA
