With the 2014 Australian Open beginning on January 13 in Melbourne, the good folks at Fila Tennis have unveiled a great new line of apparel and footwear for the male and female athletes. A full preview of the latest line is below.

*****

Center Court: Women’s

During the first Grand Slam of the year, Fila’s sponsored athletes will debut the Center Court Collection in Melbourne. The overall look for the collection has a nod to Fila’s past in color and design. The color palette was inspired by a polo shirt from the 1980s in Fila’s vast apparel archives in Italy, which paired cornflower blue and purple. Fila’s WGSN Global Fashion Award nominated design team took this archival piece and designed a women’s tennis collection with modern silhouettes and fabrics that provide the ultimate in lightweight comfort and breathability for athletes competing at the highest level in the middle of the Australian summer. The diagonal element seen throughout the collection is an important design feature which was inspired from Fila’s archives. The women’s Center Court collection color palette features peacoat, blue atoll, simply purple and white.

The Center Court dress features color-blocking, diagonal contrast taping and a modern take on racerback styling. The collection also has a cami and racerback which both include colorblocking and diagonal contrast stripes across the chest. The diagonal stripes on the full coverage tank and short sleeve v-neck top, coordinate with the stripes on the collection’s athletic skort.

To complement the on-court look, Fila’s design team added a navy full zip jacket and pant in stretch french terry. The jacket has simply purple front and pocket zippers and contrast stripes on the arms.  The coordinating pant has contrast taping down the leg and subtle diagonal stripes.

Women’s Center Court is available on fila.com & tennis specialty retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $38 – $90.

Center Court: Men’s

The Center Court Collection will be worn by Fila sponsored ATP World Tour athletes during the Australian Open. Center Court is a fashion forward collection with a white, black and blazing yellow color palette. The collection is highlighted by Fila’s new embossed poly interlock fabric which gives a subtle futuristic snakeskin look to the styles. The new fabrication can be seen on the front panel of the embossed polo which has contrast taping on the shoulders and side. The back panel of the polo includes diamond mesh for maximum breathability. The embossed crewneck includes the embossed fabrication and contrast taping on the shoulders, center chest logo and diamond mesh is placed in key areas for maximum breathability. The collection’s colorblocked crew combines poly interlock fabric with contrast diamond mesh inserts on sides and back panel.   The polo and crews include Fila logo back neck taping. The short pairs poly interlock on the front, contrast piping down the side and embossed fabric on the back. New to Fila’s men’s tennis line for 2014, the polo, crews and short feature anti-microbial properties for odor-control. The Center Court collection is complemented by a full zip jacket and pant in black, which includes contrast yellow zipper and overlay taping. The men’s Center Court is available on fila.com & tennis specialty retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $48 – $90.
