Top seeded Roger Federer earned a much-needed victory over longtime rival Rafael Nadal in Basel, Switzerland on Sunday, defeating the Spaniard 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to take his sixth title of the season. Capturing his 88th career singles crown, Federer notched his 11th win against Nadal in 34 meetings. Needing two hours and three minutes to seal his victory, Federer struck 12 aces and broke Nadal’s serve on three occasions. Nadal, who was in search of his fourth title in 2015, continued his good run of form as of late, which included reaching the finals in Beijing, the semifinals in Shanghai and the finals in Basel. Both Federer and Nadal will next see action at the Paris Masters in France, before completing their seasons at the ATP World Tour Final in London.
