After sensational few weeks of drama at the Australian Open, both on and off the court, attention is starting to turn to the next Grand Slam of the year, the French Open. Played on clay courts in Paris, the tournament is one of the most easily recognisable sporting events in the world, and it’s every tennis player’s dream to get their hands on the trophy.

Fans of the sport all around the world are already examining the tennis betting odds to see which early favourites are emerging for the French Open, and we’ve had a look at some of the top contenders for Paris.

Rafael Nadal – 11/10

Having got his hands on the Australian Open title in Melbourne earlier this year, it’s no surprise that Rafael Nadal is favourite for the French Open — as he usually is. The Spaniard has won the tournament on a record 13 occasions and is a master of clay-court tennis. Having lost his title last year to Novak Djokovic, we’d be surprised if Nadal doesn’t put things right this year and regain the trophy.

Novak Djokovic – 11/5

It’ll be interesting to see how Djokovic fares this season. After the circus surrounding his ‘will he, won’t he’ saga in Australia, Djokovic will be keen to get his head down and focus on tennis, but it’s likely that there will be plenty of media scrutiny accompanying his appearances at the biggest tournaments. The Serbian did win this tournament last year, so he’s certainly in with a shout of retaining the title.

Stefanos Tsitsipas – 4/1

You feel that it’s only a matter of time before Stefanos Tsitsipas gets his hands on a maiden Grand Slam title, and having reached the final of the French Open last year before losing out to Djokovic, the Greek player might be a decent outside bet for Roland Garros.

Iga ?wi?tek – 7/2

It was at the French Open that Iga ?wi?tek burst onto the scene by winning the tournament against the odds back in 2020. The Polish player has maintained her position among the elite since, but she is still seeking that elusive second Grand Slam title. Perhaps she’ll produce her best at Roland Garros once again — a run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open suggests that ?wi?tek is in good form.

Simona Halep – 9/2

One of the most experienced female players in the game, Simona Halep knows what it takes to win a Grand Slam, having notched two titles and three further appearances in a final. The Romanian is always a threat in any big tournament, and she’ll fancy her chances in a Grand Slam she won previously back in 2018.
