Former World No. 3 and US Open Champion to Retire
Dominic Thiem to Retire at the end of 2024 Season
Austrian star Dominic Thiem confirmed today that the 2024 tennis season will be his last as a professional player.
Hampered with a wrist injury for the better part of two years, the 30-year-old is currently No. 117 in the world and 2-4 on the year.

Winning 17 career titles and amassing over 30 million in prize money, Thiem’s greatest victory came at the 2020 US Open when he defeated Alexander Zverev in five sets for the crown.
Defeating 20-time Major winner Roger Federer to capture the 2019 BNP Paribas Open title in Indian Wells, California, Thiem impressively recorded five career wins over the Swiss great in seven matches.
Thiem also has five victories of 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and six victories over 22-time Major winner Rafael Nadal. The Austrian natives career also included two victories over three-time Major winners Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka.
Thiem’s wrist injury that he sustained at the Mallorca event in 2021, is the primary reason for his retirement from tennis.
He was playing Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16 when the injury occurred. Thiem has since found it difficult to find the fitness and passion to return to the top of the men’s game.
The future Hall of Famer will more than likely end his career at the Vienna, Austria event in late October.
