Djokovic Wins Dubai Title; Nadal Captures Acapulco Crown; Ruud Reaches Santigao Final

Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships—Dubai, U.A.E.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic continued his fantastic start to the 2020 season after he dismissed No. 2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday.

Winning his fifth title in Dubai, Djokovic won 78 percent of his first serve points, broke serve on three occasions and hit two aces during the one hour and 18 minute affair. Improving his head-to-head with Tsitsipas to 3-2 lifetime, Djokovic will hold on to his No. 1 ranking when the latest update is released on Monday.

Saving three match points against Gael Monfils during Friday’s semifinal, Djokovic improved to 18-0 on the year.

Tsitsipas, who was entering Dubai off of a title defense in Marseille, France, lost in last year’s final to Roger Federer.

Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC—Acapulco, Mexico

Top seed Rafael Nadal stormed to the title in Acapulco, Mexico on Saturday evening, dispatching hard-hitting American Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-2.

Entering the week off of a quarterfinal showing at the Australian Open, the world No. 2 looked in great form throughout the contest. Striking one ace and winning 76 percent of his second serve points, Nadal took home his 85th title in one hour and 14 minutes.

Fritz, who made the final on the back of defeating John Isner and New York winner Kyle Edmund earlier in the week, owns one career title (Eastbourne 2019) in five final attempts.

Chile Dove Men+Care Open—Santiago, Chile

Sunday’s final in Santiago, Chile will feature Casper Ruud taking on Thiago Seyboth Wild for the title. It will be the first meeting between the two at the ATP level.

Ruud has played fantastic tennis as of late, winning his maiden title in Buenos Aires, Argentina earlier this month. For Seyboth Wild, it will be his first final on Tour.

Seyboth Wild defeated to seed Cristian Garin and Juan Ignacio Londero earlier in the event.
