Djokovic, Tsitsipas Reach Australian Open Final
Nine-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic improved to 10-0 in semifinal matches at the year’s first Major, ending American Tommy Paul’s campaign 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 on Friday.
Needing a mere two hours and twenty minutes to advance, Djokovic struck 12 aces, won 75 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on seven occasions.
Never facing Paul on Tour prior to today’s match, Djokovic will next face No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, who ousted No. 18 seed Karen Khachanov 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3 in three hours and 21 minutes.
Djokovic leads his head-to-head with Tsitsipas at 10-2, with the Serb winning the last nine encounters. Sunday’s title match will also have extra significance, as the winner will become the No. 1 ranked player in the world.
As always, Betway will have great tennis odds on the men’s final with Djokovic being the favourite.
