Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek rolled into the quarterfinals of the BNL d’Italia in Rome, Italy on Tuesday.
First up, Djokovic poured in a clean-cut performance against Cameron Norrie, defeating the Brit 6-3, 6-4. Djokovic will next face Holger Rune. Rune ousted Alexei Popyrin 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
On the women’s side, Swiatek continued her dominance of the WTA, dismissing Donna Vekic 6-3, 6-4. Swiatek will next face the ever-imposing power of Elena Rybakina.
Elsewhere, Casper Ruud also reached the quarterfinals over Laslo Djere, and will next face Francisco Cerundolo. The Argentine ousted Italy’s top player Jannik Sinner 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-2.
Third-round matches that started on Monday but finished Tuesday included: No. 5 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 18 seed Lorenzo Musetti and No. 19 seed Alexander Zverev all advancing.
Wednesday’s action in Rome will feature quarterfinal matches on the men’s and women’s draws.
