Wimbledon—London, England

Top seed Novak Djokovic won a near five-hour marathon over Roger Federer at Wimbledon on Sunday, defeating the Swiss great 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12(3).

Claiming his fifth Wimbledon crown, Djokovic saved two championship points late in the fifth set, the second courtesy of a forehand passing shot winner. Overcoming 25 aces, Djokovic hit 54 winners to 52 unforced errors, while breaking the serve of Federer on three occasions.

Federer, who hit an impressive 94 winners to 62 unforced errors, won 78 percent of his points at net. The soon-to-be 38-year-old was aiming to win his ninth Wimbledon title and 21st career Major.

With his victory, Djokovic not only defended his title but also improved his Grand Slam total count to 16. He trails Rafael Nadal (18) and Federer (20) in the race for the most Majors won in the history of the men’s sport.

The tennis scene will now shift its focus to the hard-courts of North America, where the culminating Major at US Open will concluded the Grand Slam calendar. For convenient travel from Gatwick Airport to the 2020 Championships, make sure to always look up the best rates possible.
