Rolex Paris Masters—Paris, France
Top seed and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic won his 37th career Masters 1000 title on Sunday in Paris, France, defeating world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Capturing his sixth title at the event, Djokovic struck six aces, won 79 percent of his first serve points, and broke serve on five occasions. Avenging his loss at the US Open to Medvedev, Djokovic now stands in sole position as the leader of most Masters 1000 titles. Spaniard Rafael Nadal currently 36 titles in second place.
Notching the year-end world No. 1 ranking for a record seventh time on Saturday, Djokovic will now set his sights of winning the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy in a two week’s time.
Medvedev, who was attempting to defend his title, started strong before succumbing to his legendary opponent. The reigning US Open winner has four titles on the season and will also next see action at the season-ending event in Italy.
