World No. 2 Novak Djokovic claimed his second title of 2017 after he defeated second seed Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-4 in Eastbourne, Great Britain on Saturday. In a match that lasted one hour and 16 minutes, Djokovic broke serve on three occasions and won 76 percent of his first serve points. Playing his first Wimbledon tune up event since 2008, Djokovic improved to 14-0 against Monfils in lifetime meetings.
The three-time former Wimbledon champion will now head to the year’s third Major with some much needed confidence as he attempts to win his 13th career Grand Slam.
Monfils, who was aiming to win his 7th career title, defeated countryman Richard Gasquet in the semifinals.

Yuichi Sugita captured his first-career title on Saturday at the Antalya Open in Turkey, defeating Adrian Mannarino 6-1, 7-6(4). Playing the best tennis of his career, Sugita struck five aces, broke serve on four occasions and won 75 percent of his first serve points. The 28-year-old from Tokyo, Japan has had a stellar year on tour, highlighted by winning Challenger events in Surbiton, Shenzhen and Yokohama.
Mannarino, who was vying for his maiden title, defeated Borna Coric, Fernando Verdasco and Andreas Seppi en-route to the finals.
Wimbledon begins on Monday in London, England.
