Djokovic Advances to Shanghai Masters Fourth Round; Andreeva Progresses in Wuhan
Tuesday’s action at the Rolex Shanghai Masters featured four-time former winner Novak Djokovic coast into the fourth round, defeating Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 6-2.
Needing one hour and three minutes to advance, Djokovic hit three aces, won 83 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions.
The legendary Serb will next face Roman Safiullin for a spot in the round of 16. Safiullin ousted No. 13 seed Frances Tiafoe 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5) in three hours and four minutes.
Other results on the day included No. 7 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 9 seed Grigor Dimitrov, No. 10 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 12 seed Holger Rune and No. 14 seed Ben Shelton all advancing to the fourth round.
Frenchman Gael Monfils also collected a three set victory against No. 16 seed Ugo Humbert, 7-6(7) 2-6 6-1.
Monfils will next face No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz in a rematch of their second round clash at the Cincinnati Open this Summer. Monfils won that match in three sets.
Top seed Jannik Sinner will also be in action on Wednesday.

World No. 19 Mirra Andreeva posted an impressive victory on Tuesday in Wuhan, China, defeating Xiyu Wang 7-6(5), 6-3.
The Russian hit three aces, won 78 percent of her first serve points and broke serve on two occasions.
Andreeva will next face her sister Erika for a place in the round of 16. Erika Andreeva defeated Dayana Yastremska in straight sets on Monday.
Other results on the day included Amanda Anisamova, Jaqueline Cristian, Yulia Putintseva and Magda Linette all reaching the third round.
Linette ousted No. 11 seed Liudmila Samsonova 6-2, 6-2.
Wednesday’s schedule in Wuhan will feature top seed and two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, No. 2 seed Jessica Pegula, No. 3 seed Jasmine Paolini, No. 4 seed Coco Gauff and No. 5 seed Qinwen Zheng.
