Dimitrov, Korda Reach 2025 Miami Open Quarterfinals
Tuesday’s rain-delayed action at the 2025 Miami Open presented by Itau featured popular Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov reaching the quarterfinals, defeating American Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 7-5.
Needing one hour and 24 minutes to advance, Dimitrov hit 28 winners, struck 12 aces, won 83 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on two occasions.
Reaching the finals last year in a losing effort to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Dimitrov will next face either No. 23 seed Francisco Cerundolo for a place in the semifinals.
Cerundolo dismissed No. 5 seed Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-2 later in the day.
Other results on Tuesday saw No. 24 seed Sebastian Korda defeat entertaining Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
No. 20 seed Tomas Machac withdrew against countryman Jakub Mensik due to illness. Mensik will await either top seed Alexander Zverev or No. 17 seed Arthur Fils.
Korda, who is 24-years-old , will next face No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic or No. 15 seed Lorenzo Musetti.
Matches that are still to come on both the men’s and women’s sides today will feature top seed Aryna Sabalenka, No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz and No. 6 seed Jasmine Paolini.
No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek will be in action on Wednesday. She defeated No. 22 seed Elina Svitolina on Monday evening.
