Key Biscayne, Florida—World No. 2 Novak Djokovic has been forced to withdraw from the Miami Open in Key Biscayne, Florida, which begins next week with an elbow injury.
“I apologize to my fans and ppl who purchased tickets to watch me play live at @MiamiOpen. Sadly, I’m injured and won’t be able to compete,” said Djokovic on his Twitter account. The Serbian star recently lost in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open to Nick Kyrgios. Djokovic was the defending champion in Miami.
The event, the second Masters 1000 of the year, will also be with top ranked Andy Murray (elbow injury) and No. 8 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (expecting the birth of his first child).
