Cobolli Wins in Vienna; Andresscu Advances in Tokyo
Monday’s action at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Austria saw Italian Flavio Cobolli advance to the second round, defeating Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6(1), 6-3.
Needing one hour and 34 minutes to advance, Cobolli struck five aces, won 71 percent of his first serve points, broke serve on one occasion and hit 20 winners in total.
Cobolli will next face No. 2 seed Alex de Minuar or Jan Lennard Struff from German.
Elsewhere, former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini also advanced, dismissing Marton Fucsovics 7-5, 6-4.
Still to come on Monday, top seed Alexander Zverev and National Bank Open winner Alexi Popyrin will be featured.
Humbert Wins in Basel
Frenchman Ugo Humbert continued his strong season on Monday in Basel, Switzerland, reaching the second round with a 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-5 victory over qualifier Jerome Kym.
Humbert, the winner of two ATP Tour titles in 2024, will next face David Goffin or Matteo Arnaldi in second round action.
Top seed Andrey Rublev will be featured later today in the night session.

Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis—Tokyo, Japan
Former US Open winner Bianca Andresscu scored a first-round victory in Tokyo, Japan on Monday, defeating Mei Yamaguchi 7-5, 6-3.
The 24-year-old Canadian will next face No. 2 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on the day included No. 7 Magdalena Frech, No. 8 Leylah Fernandez, Zeynep Sonmez, Varvara Gracheva and Viktoriya Tomova.
Tuesday’s schedule will feature No. 9 seed Katie Boulter and former Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin.
Danilovic Advances in Guangzhou
Serbian Olga Danilovic reached the second round of the Guangzhou Open presented by AVATR in China on Monday, defeating Erika Andreeva 6-4, 6-4.
Danilovic, who is ranked No. 86 in the world, will next face Emina Bektas or No. 5 seed Diane Parry.
Other winners on the day saw Jaqueline Christian and Sijia Wei reaching the second round.
Tuesday’s schedule will feature top seed Katerina Siniakova and No. 3 seed Yue Yuan.
