Canadian Tennis Stars: Profiles of the Nation’s Top Players

Canadians are proud of their sports and their athletes and they happily follow their sports stars on social media and various events. The majority of competitions in Canada are supported by thousands of people who enjoy watching them on-site, remotely on their TVs, or more often – in sports bars with other fans.

Passionate Canadians can even make bets on sports and their favorite teams and leagues offline and online on platforms like Montreal or Hamilton casinos at CasinosHunter reviewer. This way, they literally put their money where their mouths are, and believe that their favorite athlete’s victory will bring them wins, as well. In this post, we look shortly into profiles of some of the well-known Canadian tennis stars.

Junior

Marina Stakusic

Marina Stakusic is the rising star of Canadian tennis. Born on November 27, 2004, in Mississauga, Ontario, Marina now calls Montreal, Quebec, home. Standing at an impressive 5’9 1/2″ (1.74 m), this right-handed star boasts a formidable two-handed backhand. With an obvious talent for her age, Marina is making waves on the tennis scene. Besides tennis, Marina also loves basketball. 

Christophe Clement

Introducing Christophe Clement, an athlete reshaping Canadian tennis. Born on June 28, 2004, in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Christophe still lives there today. Towering at 6 feet (1.83 m), this right-handed athlete boasts a potent two-handed backhand. Beyond his physical stature, Christophe’s strategic finesse on the court has marked him as a rising star. Christophe is fond of basketball and American football. His favorite food is sushi. 

Kayla Cross

Kayla Cross, a real tennis virtuoso, was born on March 21, 2005, in the heart of London, Ontario, where she continues to push her career forward. Standing at graceful 5’7″, Kayla showcases her unique abilities as a left-handed athlete, impressing the viewers with a two-handed backhand. Kayla is also excited about playing golf and soccer and if she wouldn’t play tennis she would become a long-distance runner. 

WTA

Gabriela Dabrowski

Gabriela Dabrowski, born on April 1, 1992, still lives in the charming city of Ottawa, Ontario. Having a height of 5’8″ (175 cm), this right-handed tennis star showcases her athletic abilities with a two-handed backhand. She says her favorite food is Nutella. 

Leylah Annie Fernandez

A young tennis sensation Leylah Annie Fernandez was born on September 6, 2002, in the vibrant city of Montreal, Canada. Currently residing in Laval, Leylah has been working towards her athletic goals. Her height is lower than average for an athlete – 5’6″ (1.68m), and she is left-handed. In addition to tennis, Leylah is passionate about soccer. 

Eugenie Bouchard

Eugenie Bouchard, born on February 25, 1994, already has a real athletic journey behind her back. Born in Montreal, Quebec, and living there even today, Eugenie still pursues her ambitions in sports. At an impressive 5’10” (178 cm), this right-handed player showcases her outstanding experience with a distinctive two-handed backhand. She became known for her aggressive playing style. Besides tennis, Eugenie likes basketball.

Felix Auger-Aliassime

Another tennis star from the city of Montreal, Quebec, Felix Auger-Aliassime was born on August 8, 2000. His athletic career continued in this city, as well as many other athletes’. Felix stands tall at 6’3″ (1.91 m) which is a huge advantage for a tennis player. He plays with his right hand and has a two-handed backhand. Felix loves music and art and plays piano. 

Frank Dancevic

Currently residing in Ile des Soeurs, Quebec, Frank Dancevic was born on September 26, 1984, near Niagara Falls, Ontario. Frank takes advantage of the commanding 6’1″ (185 cm). This right-handed tennis star boasts a one-handed backhand and is often praised for his skillful stroke. If he would pursue a career in sports other than tennis, that would be hockey.

Gabriel Diallo

And again the city of Montreal became the birthplace of a tennis star of Canada. Gabriel Diallo, born on September 24, 2001, still proudly calls Montreal home. Gabriel is taller than the majority of other tennis stars, standing at 6’7″ (2.01m) and literally dominating the court with his right-handed play. He is known for his determination and smart playing manner. 

NCAA

Taha Baadi

Taha Baadi is one of the younger athletes born on July 19, 2001, under the Moroccan sun in Rabat. Currently calling Laval, Quebec, home, Taha uses his beneficial body features and stands tall at 5’11” (1.80 m). With a right-handed manner and a two-handed backhand, he takes the courts by storm. He is also fond of music and soccer.

Justin Boulais

Initially from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (USA), Justin Boulais is now rooted in Oakville, Ontario, and represents Canada in international competitions. Born on October 20, 2001, Justin was definitely a lucky star as he has all that it takes to be an athlete, including his height of 5’11” (1.80 m). This left-handed tennis star brings his own charm to the court with his skillful one-handed backhand. Justin loves hockey and would pursue a career in this sport if not in tennis. Also, he loves drawing. 

Chih Chi Huang

Born on November 14, 2000, in Taiwan, Chih Chi Huang is now anchoring his tennis journey in Port Moody, BC. With skills surpassing his height, Chih Chi’s right-handed manner and two-handed backhand bring something new to the Canadian tennis landscape. Besides tennis, Chih Chi is good at playing cards.
