Bublik Advances in Marseille Over Gasquet; Kostyuk Defeats Gauff in Doha
Tuesday’s action at the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, France featured indoor specialist Alexander Bublik advancing to the second round, defeating local hero Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-4.
Needing one hour and 22 minutes to prevail, Bublik hit 13 aces, won 84 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on three occasions.
Looking to win his fifth title this week, Bublik will next face No. 2 seed and defending champion Ugo Humbert for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on the day included Daniel Altmaier easily advancing past Luca Nardi 6-2, 6-2. Altmaier will take on Otto Virtanen from Finland in round two.
Virtanen stunned No. 5 seed Sebastian Korda 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 6-4 in two hours and 32 minutes on Monday.
Still to come on Tuesday, No. 8 seed Nuno Borges will face Stan Wawrinka, and Zhizhen Zhang takes on Quentin Halys.

Tuesday’s schedule at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2025 in Doha, Qatar saw Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk score a big victory, defeating No. 3 seed Coco Gauff 6-2, 7-5.
Needing one hour and 12 minutes to prevail, Kostyuk hit two aces, won 66 percent of her first serve points and broke serve on five occasions.
The 22-year-old will next face Magda Linette or Magdalena Frech for a quarterfinal birth.
Other winners on Tuesday were highlighted by No. 4 seed Jasmine Paolini, No. 5 seed Elena Rybakina, Sofia Kenin, Linda Noskova and Elise Mertens.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka, No 6 seed Jessica Pegula, No. 7 seed Qinwen Zheng, No. 9 seed Paula Badosa and No. 10 seed Daria Kasatkina will play their round of 32 matches on Tuesday.
