Sinner Returns as Defending Champion
Top ranked Italian Jannik Sinner returns Down Under to defend his maiden Slam crown. Winning the event last year after trailing Daniil Medvedev by two sets to love, Sinner also defeated 10-time former winner Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.
The 23-year-old will also be joined in the impressive 128 player field by Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz.
Sinner took home eight titles in 2024 and remains the best hard-court player in the world.
Djokovic, who will be returning to action with the addition of Andy Murray as his coach, will be eager to not only capture his 11th Aussie Open title but the 100th of his illustrious career.
Alcaraz, who remains an Australian Open title away from completing his Grand Slam collection, won both the French Open and Wimbledon last year.
Sabalenka, Zheng Look to Recreate Rivalry in 2025
Last year’s winner Aryna Sabalenka and Olympic Gold medalist Qinwen Zheng return in 2025 to the lead a star-studded field in Melbourne Park.
Owning three Majors and finishing the year ranked No. 1 in the world, Sabalenka continues to be the best player in the world.
The Belarusian has won the Australian Open two years running and will be the odds on favourite to capture her third straight.
Zheng, who also thrives on hard-courts, made her maiden Slam final 12 months ago in Melbourne. The 22-year-old is currently ranked No. 5 in the world.
Other contenders to the title will include five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek, former US Open winner Coco Gauff, and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. Rybakina will start a new coaching partnership with Goran Ivanisevic in 2025.
