Auger-Aliassime Wins Montpellier Title; Mertens Captures Singapore Crown
Sunday’s results from the ATP Tour featured No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime capturing his seventh career title, winning the Open Occitanie in Montpellier, France over Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-2, 6-7(7), 7-6(2).
Needing two hours 39 minutes to prevail, Auger-Aliassime needed all of the tricks in his bag to hit 19 aces, win 78 percent of his first serve points and break his American opponent on two occasions.
Winning his second title of the year, The Canadian will stay at No. 23 in the world when the latest rankings are released.
Kovacevic, who had a career week, defeated No. 1 seed Andrey Rublev, No. 4 seed Alexander Bublik, and David Goffin en-route to his maiden final.
The 26-year-old will be ranked No. 75 in the world when the latest rankings are released.

Singapore Tennis Open— Singapore, Singapore

No. 2 seed Elise Mertens took home her ninth career singles title on Sunday at the Singapore Tennis Open in Singapore, defeating American Ann Li 6-1, 6-4.
In a quick final that lasted one hour and 22 minutes, Mertens hit four aces, won 74 percent of her first serve points and broke her opponent on five occasions.
The 29-year-old from Belgium will move up to No. 31 in the world when the latest rankings are released.
Li, who was aiming to win her second career title, will improve 25 spots in the rankings on Monday. She will move up to No. 60 in the world.

Upper Austria Ladies Linz—Linz, Austria
No. 4 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova won her fifth career title on Sunday at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz event in Linz, Austria, defeating No. 5 seed Dayana Yastremska 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in two hours and 11 minutes.
The seesaw battle featured Alexandrova hitting two aces, winning 71 percent of her first serve points and breaking her opponent on five occasions.
Alexandrova, who will move up to No. 25 in the world on Monday, was ranked as high as No. 15 in the world in April of 2024.
Yastremska, who improved her ranking by 22 spots to No. 50 in the world by reaching the finals, defeated No. 3 seed Maria Sakkari and No. 8 seed Clara Tauson en-route to the finals.
The 24-year-old currently owns three career titles.
