Montreal, July 14, 2017 – Tennis Canada announced Friday that Félix Auger-Aliassime (Montreal, QC), who received a wildcard into the main draw of Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, has been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a left wrist injury.

“I am obviously disappointed because I was looking forward to playing my first Rogers Cup main draw match in front of the Montreal crowd, but my priority is to heal this injury 100% before returning to competition to avoid it becoming a problem long term,” said Auger-Aliassime. “For now, I am hoping to return for the qualifying at the U.S. Open and I am sure that I will be back stronger to play the 2019 Rogers Cup in Montreal.”

Auger-Aliassime, who will celebrate his 17th birthday on August 8, also withdrew from the National Bank Challengers in Winnipeg, Gatineau, and Granby. He was hoping to be healed in time to play Rogers Cup, but needs a few extra weeks to ensure that the injury is completely healed.

“Félix is still young and will certainly have many more chances to play Rogers Cup and showcase his talents for the fans in Montreal,” said Rogers Cup Tournament Director Eugène Lapierre. “We hope that he will be back on court soon and wish him lots of success for the rest of the season.”

Rogers Cup presented by National Bank will be held from August 4-13 at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal. For more information, please visit TopNotchTennisTours.
