Strong Fields Enter the ATP Tour and WTA Event in Adelaide
With the season starting to take shape this week in Adelaide, both the ATP Tour and WTA will be ready to boast very strong fields ahead of the Australian.
On the women’s side, US Open finalist Jessica Pegula will look to start her year on a positive note as she looks to add a hard-court Major to her resume. The American star will have to contend with the likes of Jasmine Paolini and American Emma Navarro.
Paolini reached both the French Open and Wimbledon finals last year.
The men’s field will be equally as strong this year, with defending champion Jiri Lehecka leading the 28-player field.
Lehecka will be joined by Thanasi Kokkinakis, Tommy Paul, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Sebastian Korda.
Tabilo and Shelton Headline Auckland
This week’s event in Auckland will showcase defending champion Alejandro Tabilo. The Chilean, who grew up in Canada, had the best season of his career in 2024. Winning two titles and finishing at No. 23 in the world, Tabilo will be joined in Auckland by Ben Shelton, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Gael Monfils.
Shelton, who is currently ranked No. 21 in the world, will be adamant on beginning his year in top form to secure a top 10 ranking at year’s end.
