Alcaraz Prevails in Opening Match
Friday’s action at the Madrid Open in Spain saw two-time former winner Carlos Alcaraz race into the third round, defeating Alexander Shevchenko 6-2, 6-1.

Elsewhere, No. 7 seed Andrey Rublev snapped a four-match losing streak, dismissing Facundo Bagnis 6-1, 6-4.
Other winners on the day included No. 8 seed Hubert Hurkacz, No. 15 seed Tommy Paul, and Canadian Denis Shapovalov.
