Roland Garros—Paris, France
Tuesday’s action at the French Open saw quarterfinal action on both the women’s and men’s draws.
First up, No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalanka raced past Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-4. The reigning Australian Open winner will next face Karolina Muchova, who dismissed former finalist Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-2.
Sabalenka leads Muchova at 1-0 in their career head-to-head meetings. The 25-year-old is looking to win her second Major of the season after capturing her maiden Grand Slam in Melbourne.
On the men’s side, two-time former winner Novak Djokovic bounced back after losing the first set against Karen Khachanov, defeating the No. 11 seed 4-6, 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4.
Djokovic will next face either Carlos Alcaraz on Friday. The top seed set up a mouth-watering, semifinal encounter after defeating No. 5 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-1, 7-6(5).
The Serb is attempting to win his 23rd career Major, which would put him in the all-time lead over Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz will be aiming to win his second career Major in France.
Wednesday’s schedule in Paris will feature Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur, Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev.
