Djokovic Wins Athens Title; Denies Musetti Place in Turin

Top seed Novak Djokovic won his second title of the year at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Hellenic Championship in Athens, Greece on Saturday, defeating No. 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti from Italy 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Capturing his 101st career title, Djokovic needed just under three hours to prevail. Striking six aces, winning 70 percent of his first serve points and breaking serve on four occasions, Djokovic improved to 9-1 against Musetti in lifetime meetings, which includes six straight wins.

Musetti, who was aiming to reach the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy will now have to rely on the withdrawal of a qualified player to gain entry.

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime will become the eighth and final player to qualify for Turin as a result of Djokovic’s victory.

The ATP Finals in Turin, Italy are set to get underway way on Sunday.

WTA Finals in Riyadh—Saudi Arabia

Top seed and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka failed to capture the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, losing to No. 6 seed Elena Rybakina 6-4, 7-6(0).

In a contest between the two best players of the week, Rybakina showed why she continues to be the one of the best hard-court players in the world.

Hitting 13 aces, winning 71 percent of her first serve points and breaking serve on one occasion, Rybakina picked up her sixth against Sabalenka in 14 meetings.

Sabalenka ends the year with four titles and close to 14 million in prize money. She will now set her sights on the Australian Open in January, and her third career title Down Under.

Rybakina, who clinched her third title of 2025, went undefeated in Riyadh. The 26-year-old defeated No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek, No. 4 seed Amanda Anisimova, No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula and alternate Ekaterina Alexandrova en-route to the finals.

Rybakina will end the year ranked No. 5 in the world and will take home over 5 million in prize money.
