US Open 2025 Women’s Final Preview: Aryna Sabalenka vs Amanda Anisimova

Friday’s Previews and Results from the 2025 US Open

The stage is set at Flushing Meadows for a blockbuster showdown in the 2025 US Open Women’s Final, as defending champion Aryna Sabalenka takes on rising American star Amanda Anisimova. Tennis fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating this clash of power, precision, and mental toughness.

Sabalenka Seeks Redemption and Another Crown

World No. 1 and top seed Aryna Sabalenka has been the dominant force in women’s tennis throughout 2025. Despite heartbreaking losses in the finals of both the Australian Open and the French Open, she rebounded strongly in New York. The Belarusian will now look to defend her title and capture her first Grand Slam trophy of the season.

Her path to the final has been relatively smooth, with her biggest test coming in the semifinals against Jessica Pegula. In a rematch of last year’s US Open final, Sabalenka overcame a one-set deficit to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, proving once again that her resilience matches her raw power.

Anisimova’s Breakthrough Season Continues

On the other side of the net, Amanda Anisimova has been rewriting her own career narrative. The 23-year-old stunned the tennis world earlier in the week by ousting World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, followed by a thrilling three-set victory over two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka.

That semifinal, lasting nearly three hours, showcased her grit and shot-making brilliance. Anisimova fought back from a set down to claim the match 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-3. With this win, she reached her second straight Grand Slam final and surged to World No. 4 in the live rankings—a career milestone.

Head-to-Head: Anisimova Holds the Edge

While Sabalenka enters as the defending champion, the numbers tell a fascinating story. Anisimova leads their head-to-head record 6-3, a stat that surprises many given Sabalenka’s dominance on tour.

In 2025 alone, they’ve already met twice at Majors:

  • Sabalenka won convincingly in straight sets at the French Open.

  • Anisimova struck back at Wimbledon, ousting the Belarusian in three sets.

Now, their rivalry comes full circle in New York, with both players seeking to end the Grand Slam season on the highest possible note.

What to Expect in the US Open Final

This final promises contrasting strengths and plenty of drama:

  • Sabalenka’s power and consistency will test Anisimova’s ability to absorb pace and counterpunch effectively.

  • Anisimova’s tactical variety and backhand winners could disrupt the defending champion’s rhythm.

  • With both players familiar with high-stakes finals in 2025, mental toughness may decide the outcome.

The crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium is set for an unforgettable spectacle as the defending champion faces the challenger who has had her number in recent matchups.

Prediction

With the stakes higher than ever, expect a tight three-set battle. Sabalenka will rely on her experience and power, while Anisimova’s fearless shot selection and head-to-head confidence make her a serious threat.

No matter the outcome, this match will be remembered as one of the defining chapters of the 2025 US Open.

Men’s Final Preview: Jannik Sinner vs. Carlos Alcaraz

Sunday’s men’s final at the 2025 US Open will feature the world No. 1 and world No. 2 players once again locking horns for the biggest title in sports.

With the world No. 1 ranking on the line and 5 million in prize money, Carlos Alcaraz will take a 9-5 head-to-head lead against Jannik Sinner into the finals.

The Spaniard has made eight straight finals on Tour, spanning back to the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters. Alcaraz has won titles on every surface this year, and he continues to prove that his consistency has improved as well.

Defeating 24-time Major winner No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, Alcaraz will look to avenge a Wimbledon defeat to Sinner on Sunday.

Sinner had a much tough contest against No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, defeating the Canadian in four, thrilling sets.

Tying his head-to-head with Auger-Aliassime at 2-all, Sinner will be adamant on collecting his third victory against Alcaraz in nine hard-court meetings.

Alcaraz and Sinner have played on four occasions this year, with Alcaraz leading 3-1 in total wins.

Alcaraz has five Grand Slams to his name, and Sinner currently owns four. Sinner has made the finals of the last five Grand Slams, and Alcaraz has appeared in three-straight Major finals.

Sunday’s blockbuster final should be nothing short of another epic for the tennis world to enjoy.
