Clash of Titans: US Open 2025 Men’s Semifinals Set with Sinner, Alcaraz, Djokovic and Auger-Aliassime

Friday’s Previews and Results from the 2025 US Open

Friday’s men’s semifinals at the US Open will feature top seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner going up against No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the night session, and No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz facing No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic at 3pm EST.

Continuing to dominate every opponent throughout the event, Sinner followed up his three-set victory over Alexander Bublik by dismantling good-friend and No. 10 seed Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets in the quarterfinals.

Trailing Auger-Aliassime 2-1 in career matches, Sinner recently defeated the Canadian 6-0, 6-2 at the Cincinnati Masters this Summer.

Auger-Aliassime, who has reached his second career US Open semifinal, defeated No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev, No. 15 seed Andrey Rublev, and No. 8 seed Alex de Minaur in succession. The 25-year-old from Montreal, Canada is up to No. 13 in the world in the latest rankings.

Continuing to be the overwhelming favourite to win his fifth Major this weekend, Sinner should advance over Auger-Aliassime in three easy sets.

The day’s first encounter will feature a popcorn match between Alcaraz and Djokovic. Playing each other for the ninth time in their careers, Djokovic currently leads Alcaraz 5-3 in career meetings.

Djokovic has won the last two matches against Alcaraz and has never lost to the Spaniard on hard-courts. The 38-old-year Serbian legend defeated Alcaraz at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, and at the start of the year at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

However, Alcaraz has made the finals of the last seven events that he’s played, and has recorded an impressive 59-6 win/loss record on the season.

The 22-year-old has won the French Open this year, made the finals of Wimbledon, and collected Masters 1000 titles in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Rome, Italy, and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Djokovic, who has only focused on the Grand Slams in 2025, has made the semifinals of all four. Djokovic stands at 31 wins and nine losses on the season.

Djokovic will be eager to win his 25th career Major this weekend, and to do it, he will likely have to defeat the world No. 2 and world No. 1 ranked players in succession.

Women’s Final Preview: Sabalenka vs. Anisimova

The women’s final at the 2025 US Open is set for Saturday in Flushing Meadows, New York.

Top seed and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka will be eager to defend her crown and capture her first Major of 2025.

Previously losing in the finals of the Australian and French Opens, Sabalenka was ousted in the semifinals of Wimbledon by opponent on Saturday, Amanda Anisimova.

Anisimova, who has proven that she can compete on the big stage, followed up her victory against Iga Swiatek by defeating two-time former winner Naomi Osaka in nearly three hours on Thursday evening.

Taking the match by a scoreline of 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-3, Anisimova is into her second-straight Major final and up to No. 4 in the world in latest, live rankings.

A stat that would surprise most tennis fans remains that Anisimova actually owns a healthy 6-3 head-to-head lead over Sabalenka.

Playing in their third Major this year, the pair have split their two previous meetings in 2025. Sabalenka defeated the American in straight sets at the French Open, and Anisimova ousted Sabalenka in three sets at Wimbledon.

Sabalenka has had a comfortable road to the finals in New York, and was only tested by No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula in the semifinals on Thursday.

In a rematch of last year’s final, Sabalenka prevailed 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
