This week’s ATP Tour events will feature three 250 events in Marseille, Delray Beach and Buenos Aires, while the WTA will host a 1000 point event in Doha, Qatar.
French Flair in Marseille
The tennis faithful are in for a treat this week with a very impressive 250 event in Marseille, France.
Top seed Daniil Medvedev will be joined by current world No. 15 and defending champion Ugo Humbert, and hard-serving 21-year-old Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
The home-town crowd will also have the pleasure of watching Karen Khachanov, Hubert Hurkacz and defending champion Ugo Humbert in the 28-player field.
The Clay-Court Season Starts Today in Buenos Aires
Three-time Major finalist Alexander Zverev returns to the Tour with his eyes set on advancing to another Slam final at Roland Garros later this year.
Zverev’s competition in the event will be highlighted by local favourites Sebastian Baez, Francisco Cerundolo and Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
Higher ranked players also in the field will be highlighted by Holger Rune, Lorenzo Musetti, Alejandro Tabilo and Joao Fonseca.
Good Times in Delray Beach
The American hopeful will be out in full force this week in Delray Beach, Florida, as the ever popular 250 event returns to South Florida.
With American tennis continuing to rise on both circuits, this week’s tournament feature the top two players in the country.
No. 1 seed and 2024 winner Taylor Fritz returns to Delray Beach and will have to face fellow top tenner Tommy Paul, and big-serving Reilly Opelka.
Other players in the 28-player field will include Brandon Nakashima, Alex Michelsen and long-time Florida native Kei Nishikori.
Sabalenka, Swiatek and Gauff Featured in Doha
While the season has only just begun, there already a tight race for the top spot in the rankings on the WTA.
With only 186 points separating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and current world No. 2 Iga Swiatek, the 1000 offered this week in Doha, will go along way in setting up both players for the duel hard-court events in Indian Wells and Miami in March.
Sabalenka just lost in the Australian Open final to Madison Keys, while Swiatek was defeated by the 29-year-old in the semifinals. Sabalenka was aiming for a three-peat Down Under.
Other players that are set to take part in Doha will include former US Open winner Coco Gauff, two-time Major finalist Jasmine Paolini, Australian Open finalist Zheng Qinwen, US Open finalist Jessica Pegula, Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina, US Open semifinalist Emma Navarro, two-time Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejcikova and French Open semifinalist Daria Kasatkina.
