Defending champs Djokovic and Gauff Headline Player Fields at 2024 Cincinnati Open

CINCINNATI (July 17, 2024) – Eight past champions, including 2023 winners Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic, headline the preliminary entry lists for the 2024 Cincinnati Open. The initial entrants for the Aug. 11-19 tournament include each player in the Top 40 of the world rankings, led by WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek and ATP No. 1 Jannik Sinner.

“We are excited to welcome an elite field to compete for the Cincinnati Open title this August,” said Bob Moran, President of Beemok Sports & Entertainment. “There have been so many intriguing storylines throughout this season, which will certainly continue over the coming weeks through the Olympics and into the Cincinnati Open. We are hearing from players and fans alike how much they are looking forward to the tournament, and we cannot wait to open our doors to all for another exceptional event.”

Gauff and three-time Cincinnati Open winner Djokovic will look to defend their titles in fields that include former Cincinnati Open winners Victoria Azarenka (2013, 2020), Grigor Dimitrov (2017), Caroline Garcia (2022), Madison Keys (2019), Daniil Medvedev (2019) and Alexander Zverev (2021).

The entries also include this year’s Grand Slam tournament champions: Australian Open winners Aryna Sabalenka and Sinner, French Open champions Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz, and this past weekend’s Wimbledon winners Barbora Krejcikova and Alcaraz. Sixty-five of the 87 preliminary entries are also entered in this summer’s Paris Olympics.

Seven men and eight women will join the field through a two-round qualifying tournament that will take place Aug. 11-12, while four more players from each tour will be awarded wild cards. One additional player may earn a special exempt into each field.

Many players will arrive in Cincinnati early and will be practicing at the Lindner Family Tennis Center during the inaugural Cincinnati Open Community Day on Aug. 10. Tickets for Community Day start at $10 and are on sale now at cincinnatiopen.com, with proceeds benefiting Cincinnati Children’s.

Founded in 1899, the Cincinnati Open will celebrate 125 years in 2024, and joins Madrid, Miami, Rome and Indian Wells, Calif., as the only events to concurrently host top tier ATP Tour and Hologic WTA Tour 1000-level tournaments. Since becoming a single week, combined event in 2011, the tournament has drawn an average of nearly 189,000 spectators each year.

The Cincinnati Open is proudly supported by its cornerstone partners: Western & Southern Financial Group, Credit One Bank, Great American Insurance Group, Procter & Gamble, Fifth Third and Kroger.

Tickets are on sale now at cincinnatiopen.com.
