Friday’s action at the French Open saw No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalaenka breeze into the fourth-round of the event, defeating Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2, 6-2. Sabalenka will next face either Sloane Stephens or Yulia Putintseva.
No. 3 Jessica Pegula wasn’t as lucky on the day, losing comfortably to No. 28 seed Elise Mertens 6-1, 6-3.
Elsewhere, No. 9 seed Daria Kasatkina easily advanced to the fourth round after dispatching Peyton Stearns 6-0, 6-1.
On the men’s side, No. 11 seed Karen Khachanov ousted Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5).
Khachanov has reached the fourth round or better of the last three Grand Slams.
Later in the day, No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic needed three hours and 36 minutes to oust No. 29 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Serb will next face Hubert Hurkacz or Juan Pablo Varillas.
The night cap will featured top seed Carlos Alcaraz comfortably dispatching Denis Shapovalov 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
Saturday’s action in Paris will feature Iga Swiatek, Holger Rune, Elena Rybakina and Alexander Zverev.
