US Open—Flushing Meadows, New York
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek won her third career Major title on Saturday at the US Open, defeating No. 5 seed Ons Jabeur 6-2, 7-6(5).
Needing one hour and fifty one minutes to claim her title, Swiatek hit one ace, won 58 percent of her first serve points and broke serve on five occasions.
Improving to 3-2 over Jabeur in lifetime meetings, Swiatek has had her best season to date on Tour.
The 21-year-old will now look to win the next big title of the year at the WTA Finals in Forth Worth, Texas next month.
Jabeur, who defeated No. 17 seed Caroline Garcia in the semifinals, also reach the Wimbledon final earlier this year.
Sunday’s action in Flushing Meadows will feature the men’s final.
No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz will take on No. 5 seed Casper Ruud. The winner will not only claim their first Grand Slam title, but they will also walk away with the world No. 1 ranking.
