Miami Open—Miami, Florida
Spanish upstart Carlos Alcaraz capped off a sensational month of action on Tour on Sunday, defeating No. 6 seed Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-4 to win the Miami Open.
Showing maturing beyond his age of only 18, Alcaraz overcame a 0-3 deficit in the first set and never looked back. Slamming six aces and winning 75 percent of his first serve points, Alcaraz broke serve on four occasions.
Winning the Rio Open earlier this year, Alcaraz now owns three career titles and will move up to No. 11 on Monday.
The Spanish native will next take his talents to Monte Carlo, Monaco, where he will look to win his second Masters 1000 title.
Ruud, who was looking to capture his eighth career crown, dismissed No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.
