Zverev to Face Jarry for 2024 Italian Open Title
Friday’s semifinal action at the Italian Open featured former US Open finalist Alexander Zverev reaching the finals, defeating Alejandro Tabilo 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-2.
After losing the first set, Zverev used his experience and elite backhand to advance to his third-career final in Rome.
Slamming 10 aces, winning 80 percent of his first serve points and breaking serve on two occasions, Zverev will next face another Chilean, Nicolas Jarry in the finals.
Jarry advanced to his seventh career final and first Masters 1000 by ousting No. 14 seed Tommy Paul 6-3, 6-7(3),6-3.
Zverev and Jarry have played on six occasions, with Zverev leading 4-2.
Swiatek to Face Sabalenka in Final
Saturday’s schedule in Rome will be highlighted by top seed Iga Swiatek facing No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka.
Swiatek recently defeated Sabalenka in the Madrid Open final and leads the pair’s head to head series 7-3.
