Nitto ATP Finals—London, Great Britain
No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev defeated top seed Novak Djokovic in stunning fashion at the ATP World Tour Final in London, Great Britain on Sunday for the biggest title of his career.
Producing near-perfect tennis in the first set, Zverev won 86 percent of his first serve points while adding seven aces. Not to be outdone in set two, the young German raced out to a 3-1 lead and never looked back. Improving to 2-1 against Djokovic in lifetime meetings, Zverev also defeated Roger Federer in the semifinals.
Winning $2,509,000 for his efforts, Zverev will now look to add an elusive slam title to his already stellar resume.
Djokovic, who was looking to cap off a sensational second half to 2018, lost only his third match since capturing Wimbledon in the summer. The Serb’s impressive year saw him ranked No. 22 at the beginning of the season.
