BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore
No. 6 seed Caroline Wozniacki won the biggest title of her career on Sunday in Singapore, defeating No. 5 seed Venus Williams 6-4, 6-4. In a match that lasted one hour and 29 minutes, Wozniacki persevered to win the first set on the back of three breaks of serve before racing out to a 5-0 lead in set two. Not to be outdone, Williams stormed back to win four straight games before the Dane served out the match.
Reaching eight finals in 2017, Wozniacki has been a pinnacle of consistency throughout the season. With her efforts in Singapore, Wozniacki also won $2,247,000 in prize money and will finish No. 3 to end the year.
Williams, who also produced some of her best tennis throughout 2017, finished as a runner up at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Williams will finish No. 5 in the world, her highest year-end ranking since 2010.
