Who among tennis players under 25 will win a Grand Slam tournament in the near future?

Michael Chang, Boris Becker, and Mats Wilander won their first Grand Slam singles titles at the age of 17. Bjorn Borg achieved this remarkable feat at the age of 18. However, Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras, and Stefan Edberg had to wait until they were 19 to etch their names in the history of major tennis titles. Jannik Sinner, the winner of the 2024 Australian Open, managed to claim his first major title at the mature age of 22, making his path to fame unique among contemporary tennis stars.

Mostbet in Nepal is a bookmaker where you can place bets on both major and less popular tennis tournaments. The company offers comprehensive odds and high coefficients. However, to place bets, one must consistently follow tennis news and keep track of players’ form. Let’s consider who among tennis players under 25 could win a Grand Slam tournament in the near future.

Young group of tennis players

The group of young tennis players under the age of 25 in the current top 25 ATP list distinctly differs from the composition of players presented more than three years ago. Currently, the average age of participants in this group slightly exceeds 22 years. This time frame has proven more than sufficient for many of them to reach the pinnacle and win major titles before turning 25.

Among the players who have already turned 25 or will do so in the near future and have thus been excluded from the 2024 list, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, and Francisco Serundolo stand out. Seven other players, including Alex de Minaur and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, have less than a year left to achieve success in major tournaments before moving into the next age category.

After Rafael Nadal conquered the French Open in 2005, Alcaraz became the only teenager to secure a victory in a major tournament. Now, as Holger Rune and Alcaraz celebrate their 20th birthdays in 2023, new faces are emerging on the tennis horizon – the Frenchmen Arthur Fils and Luca Van Ass. Arthur Fils, who already has an ATP title to his name from a successful performance in the Next Gen ATP Finals, is closely watched by tennis enthusiasts in 2024.

Young players gave plenty of time

Young players have ample time to achieve outstanding success. Considering the annual occurrence of four key tournaments, we can analyze how many opportunities each of them has to win a Grand Slam tournament before reaching the age of 25.

Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, given their current age, have 16 possible chances for the main title, Ben Shelton has 15, and Jannik Sinner has 10. Since Alex de Minaur turns 25 in February 2024, we exclude him from the list of contenders for a Grand Slam title before the age of 25. Novak Djokovic is the only one remaining from the great trio, so the chances that someone from the current group of players under 25 will win a Grand Slam title are higher than those of their predecessors a few years ago.

Between 1968 and 1994, 15 players won 3 or more Grand Slam titles. However, starting from 1995 until 2023, this number has decreased to 8. Due to the dominance of the great trio, newcomers find it harder to break through to the top. However, this trend is changing. Although Carlos Alcaraz is considered by many experts as the natural heir, Jannik Sinner’s impressive performance at the 2024 Australian Open makes him a serious contender for leadership. The chances that both Alcaraz and Sinner will win Grand Slam titles before the age of 25 are high.

Holger Rune, a top-ten player and a Masters 1000 titleholder, is also a potential candidate, despite his disappointing start in 2024. The youth have every chance to present serious competition. Only four of the current top-10 ATP players have won Grand Slam tournaments. Ambitious players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, and Hubert Hurkacz also aspire to the coveted Major title. Moreover, Djokovic, Medvedev, Alcaraz, and Sinner have confirmed that they can elevate their game in crucial moments.

The differences in talent among the top 20 players are minimal, and each of them must believe in their real chances of winning a Grand Slam tournament. However, undoubtedly, the future belongs to the youth.
